Protege is one of the most spacious subcompact sedans, with relatively abundant front head room and rear leg room. Bodies are solid, and paintwork and exterior trim equal Honda/Toyota quality. The extra horsepower available in 2001 provides a modest but welcome improvement. Performance is adequate with manual shift, and a 5-speed ES scoots through traffic well enough, but automatic is disappointing. Acceleration does improve at about 20 mph, but passing power is lacking. Both engines offered in that period are slow from a stop. Tepid acceleration is the foremost flaw of 1999-2000 models. Although the ES sedan shares their suspension, its high-profile tires–which sharpen handling–don’t smother small road imperfections as well. Still, DX and LX editions take most bumps with firm control and yield a supple ride, with adequate steering and agile handling. Offering sportier road manners than many rivals, Proteges give a generally favorable impression, though the tradeoff is a slightly stiffer ride and markedly higher level of engine, road, and wind noise. With the Protege, Mazda favors handling ability over ride comfort, unlike the tamer, softer Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. ES and Protege5 get new alloy wheels and silver gauge faces for ’03. Media consumption is where the X2000B-4K really shines, having a few neat party tricks up its sleeve to make it an ideal contender. ViewSonic does have its ColorPro® range of monitors that is specifically designed for graphics workloads, although the X2000B-4K is still worth considering once you’re ready to show off those stunning visuals you’ve spent countless hours working on. While the X2000B-4K does support a wide colour gamut, supporting 100% Rec.709 coverage, projectors aren’t really meant for use in such a setting, except perhaps when exhibiting your finished work. If you are looking for projectors that are more suitable for use in smaller settings, such as meeting rooms or classrooms, you may be better off with one of the options in ViewSonic’s Business or Education range. That said, this projector is probably best used in the home theatre environment or in an exhibition/conference setting. The patented 100″ Fresnel ALR screen rejects ambient lighting from being reflected back to the viewer, presenting a bright display even in broad daylight. To be sure, this was using the screen that ViewSonic is currently packaging with the X2000B-4K, which presents the projector in the best light, no pun intended. The built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers did not have any discernible audio distortion even at maximum volume – and that volume was pretty impressive for a pair of 25W (10W tweeter + 15W woofer) speakers. Despite that, the image that it projected remained bright with decent contrast and vibrant colours, thanks to the 2000 ANSI lumens of brightness that the projector boasts, and the company’s proprietary Cinema SuperColor™ Technology. ViewSonic is so confident in this product that the review environment it set up was about as hostile to projectors as it could be an open indoor space in a shopping mall with lots of bright lighting and ambient noise. Or, if you prefer, install the ViewSonic vCastSender app on your Android device of choice and control it that way.Īs mentioned, the X2000B-4K is meant to be the mainstay of a home entertainment system, and it does so really well. ![]() Beyond that, the firmware can be updated (yes, the X2000B-4K comes with networking more on that later), and you can even install streaming apps right into the 32GB onboard storage (26GB usable) from ViewSonic’s app store. ![]() By using the included remote control to navigate the menus, the usual brightness, contrast, and other audio/visual settings can be adjusted. ![]() Hence, the OSD looks more like the full-screen GUI that a smart TV would present to you. The X2000B-4K is a ‘smart laser TV’, which means that rather than simply being a display, it comes with ViewSonic’s own Android-based OS. The X2000B-4K comes with a safety feature that cuts power to the lamp if it detects someone is coming too close to it. Coming in two variants (black or white), the X2000B-4K provides that 100 inches of display real estate when positioned approximately 60cm away from the surface you’re projecting it on to (measured from the back of the projector it’s 23.4cm away if measured from the front). Weighing in at nearly 7kg nett (6.8kg according to ViewSonic), this is pretty light, especially when compared to a 100″ LCD TV, which is what this projector is meant to compete with.Īs the name suggests, the X2000B-4K is a projector that uses laser phosphor technology to project at a ‘native’ resolution of 4K (3840×2160) at 60Hz. In the meantime, however, the X2000B-4K seems to be a solid product. And maybe time will bring any such issues to light. Which is interesting, since this is ViewSonic’s first-ever such projector, and you would expect there to be teething issues with any first-generation product. Many other displays out there try to be all things to all people the X2000B-4K is built from the ground up to be the best complement to your home theatre setup… even if it has to do it all on its own. ![]() ViewSonic is a world-renowned display specialist, and its X2000B-4K ultra-short-throw projector (or UST projector/‘laser TV’ as it’s sometimes referred to) is a good example of how the company puts together a solid product that is designed to do one thing and do it well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When you're ready to make a purchase, you can shop by organization or view all custom Greek products. ![]() see what our customers have to say by reading our customer testimonials and looking through our photo gallery. So, enjoy the journey the destination will arrive.ĭefinitely still smiling! New aircraft type, new airline, new flying discipline, living in a different city, first officer or captain doesn’t really matter but enjoying the journey!Ĭan you tell us a little bit about what training you have done in the past and how it has helped you get where you are? The only difference between a young pilot and myself is time and effort. My general aviation flying took me to more interesting places then any airline job could. The experiences I had through all my flying shaped who I am today not only as a Captain but an individual. It was no different when I was learning to fly but I’m so glad my path took me the way it did. It’s great to have a goal but enjoy the moment because one day the moment will be gone. What piece of advice would you give your younger self starting a career in aviation?įorget the destination and enjoy the journey! I still to this day fly light aircraft for pleasure and all I hear from the young pilots is how quickly they want to get into the airlines. In my situation it makes more sense however, do think it over before you commit. You must consider the pros n cons when it comes to commuting and everybody’s situation is different. Unlike other parts of the world here In Australia you have to pay for your commuting flights even if your employed by the airline. Most pilots will be faced with this dilemma at some time in their Airline career. This is something I chose to do nobody forced me into it. There are so many other disciplines but it’s up to you to take that chance. ![]() ![]() For the younger aspiring pilots remember Airline flying is only one corner of the spectrum. When people trust you and feel safe, they follow you. By doing so your crew and passengers feel safe. Instilling trust in my crew and passengers. Everyone has something to contribute no matter what level of experience they have. Aviation is about working together to achieve a common goal, whether in the flight deck or on the ground you have to work as a team. You gain a certain comradery amongst pilots. Who is your biggest influencer in your industry and why? As a first officer I did eventually enrol into University and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation which I might add would have made my former high school teachers proud. A few years went by and I was accepted into my current airline as B737 First officer. Pretty much the same as the Coast Guard in America patrolling the country boarders. A few years later I returned to Australia and got a job flying Dash 8’s as a Maritime Patrol Pilot under contract for the Australian Customs. It was real bush flying where you survived by using common-sense and thinking outside the box. I was flying B200 Super King Air Aircraft which must be one of the nicest aircraft I’ve had the pleasure of flying. “The future doesn’t belong to the fainthearted, it belongs to the brave” and with that in mind I moved to Kenya where I started flying Humanitarian Aid operations throughout East and West Africa as well as parts of the Middle East. I then chose the path of becoming an Instructor and while working as a casual flight instructor I continued my training in attaining my Multi-Engine and Instrument rating as well as my Air Transport Pilots License. This was a big moment for me because I proved to myself that I could do anything. A few years went by and I had achieved my Basic Commercial License. With some help from my parents plus working part time, week by week I put myself through most of my basic training. Flying was a lot more affordable back then. Pilots generally choose the path of least resistance and I knew the path to becoming a pilot didn’t require a university education so after completing high school with grades that only my goldfish would be proud of, I went to the local flying school and enrolled. During my teen years I discovered Heavy Metal guitar…well let’s just say I chose the right career path and saved the world a lot of pain! My Dad gave me a bright red rubber band powered model aeroplane and from there I was totally hooked. I fell in love with aeroplanes at about the age of 5.
